Countdown to Thanksgiving Day 2010
Thanksgiving is celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November. The tradition has been an annual
holiday in the United States since 1863 and was established as a federal holiday in 1941.
The first celebration took place in 1621 and lasted three days. The celebration feast was prepared to thank the Native Americans for
helping the pilgrims survive the harsh winter.
Today, it is a time for friends and family to gather to give thanks and celebrate life's blessings. Large feasts are prepared and
enjoyed by all.
