Mardi Gras Party Theme
Nothing says Mardi Gras like colorful masks, purple, green and gold beads and Cajun food.
In 1875, it became a legal holiday in Louisianna with the signing of the "Mardi Gras Act". Today, people travel from all
over to celebrate the holiday in New Orleans. People line the streets to watch the annual parade. Colorful masks are worn by many
and beaded necklaces are handed out for fun.
It is
always celebrated on a Tuesday and can be anywhere between February 3rd and March 9th. It is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.
Masquerade balls are thrown and men dress in tuxedos and women in fancy ball gowns. Masks are worn to hide one's identity and add an element
of mystery.
Glow bracelets, necklaces and drinking glasses add to the mood and atmosphere of the Mardi Gras theme.
